Beaming with 49er Pride
Recently, Operating Engineer, Keith Herzog was in spotlight as he hoisted the final piece of steel into place for the new ballpark. A 49er for 35 years, Herzog had all eyes focused on him as the stadium was deemed 75 percent complete.
Local 49 workers played an important role in the construction of Target Field. Hundreds of these workers have spent the last two years working on what is considered by many as one of the most-high profile construction jobs in the Midwest.
And while the work for many 49ers may be done, it doesn’t mean their presence at Target Field is gone. High above the stadium, on the base of a tree, placed on the last beam to signify the topping of the structure lies the signatures and logo of the men and women of the Local 49.
